Yep, it was a Grand Old Party! ;)
We enjoyed the experience of being delegates (Dad and Andrew had been delegates before, but it was the first time for me), seeing several old friends and making a few new ones too. The whole convention is an interesting thing to observe and listen to (although you do get rather tired of sitting and clapping!).
District 28 had a good showing (1 1/2 rows of seats)!!
The only contested position was for getting the GOP endorsement for the position of ND Agriculture Commisioner. Mrs. Judy Estenson had a fair amount of support...
(That's our Senator in the black suit---sitting down. He sang the National Anthem beautifully yesterday!)
Mr. Goehring (our current Ag Commissioner) received the party's endorsement though.
I took this picture of our districts' votes being counted (Andrew's down there observing,
but you can't see him very well.) There were nearly 1,000 delegates in total at the convention, so it was a very good turnout!!
Dad stayed in touch with my mom throughout the convention when she had calving updates or problems. Thankfully, we made it home just in time to pull a calf that was "Stuck" and it was alive! PTL! :) I think there were 5 calves while we were gone.
Here we are...
We were very grateful to stay with the H. family last night and to get to know them better! Andrew had spent time with them during Appleseed events, but my dad and I didn't know them very well, so it was a real treat spending some time with them. Our bedtime was late last night (after lots of visiting, banjo-picking, and butter-making!), but it was so refreshing to sleep all through the night.
"Thank you again, Mom and Jacob, for keeping the farm running while we were gone!!!!!"
Looks like a great party ;) Did ya learn anything interesting?
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that ya'll got home safely!
Blessings in Christ,
