Labor Day family camp 2014!

I'll let the pictures tell of the fun we had!

Andrew and I went over on Friday (over a week ago now) for the work day.  He helped shingle...

I helped several ladies scrape, wash, and paint the cement-block foundation
 on this coffee shop...

This is where the camp was held:

 The chapel:
The dining area---and the bell they ring when it's time to eat
or come for a message by the main speaker...
The lake is so beautiful!
Saturday afternoon was the time set apart for the 2nd annual cardboard-boat-building contest!
Each team was given a certain amount of cardboard and 2 rolls of mailing tape.
The man in the dark grey top and black/red sweatpants watching our team in this picture was the main-speaker that weekend, Mr. Wally Long.  He spoke about knowing the will of God in your life.
(Check out part of his life story here if you like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdRF7nIAvnE)
We were given an hour to finish our boats...

It's fun to see what everyone comes up with!

We had 3 families on our team...

As our boat was named "The Ark", of course we needed some animals drawn on the side of it!
 Mrs. C...writing upside down!
You can see my parents working hard in this photo...  :)

So much cardboard!

Finally, it was time to take the boats down by the water...

Mr. & Mrs. Sip (the host family parents)...
Almost ready for the race!

My dad was selected from our team to push the boat out a ways when the buzzer sounded... (he's to the right of the slide there.)  Andrew and a little guy went out in our boat.
After the race was over, the "Swamping" began---meaning you try to sink others' boats without your own boat getting sunk.
 The green gals...

Mom and Dad...

Water skiing...  The water was very cold this year, and the outdoor temp wasn't very warm either, so there weren't nearly as many people out on or in the water as there were last year.
The camp-cookoff was fun to watch!!

 There were 4 families participating:
The Kramers and Mindemans...
...and the Uelands and Tunbys.  :)
Sunday afternoon, Anna U. (in light blue) and I supervised/played with some of the little ones...
 A few people canoed...
...and a few went down the water slide...
Andrew found a few people who wanted to play 3-person chess with him...
I found a dear "old" friend to talk to!
 Mom and Mrs. Murphy...
 Cabbage-ball...

 Volleyball...

Oh, and this picture doesn't really belong here, but is one that a friend shared
of our team and our "Ark"  (Mom is hiding behind my dad I think?)....

Once again, it was a great time of fellowship and learning!
God bless the Sip family!!! They put so much work into these camps.

We're already looking forward to the January camp.  :)
